In His Shoes, I'd Do The Same

Joe Torre has a new book coming out. Supposedly, he has a lot of uncomplimentary things to say about his tenure in pinstripes.

I was talking to someone about it. He said, "I don't understand why he'd wanna write something like that...not like he needs the money."

I responded, "Actually, that's exactly why he'd write a book like that."

If it's not about the money, then how about showing some respect for the organization that rescued you from Anaheim Angel broadcaster, Hall of Very Good player, & awful manager and gave you a chance to become the genius, master motivator, Hall of Famer that you are today?!?

Whether he's right or not about being bitter, I don't know, and quite frankly, don't care (I cant believe I'm writing this but sports are boring).

Fact is, he is bitter, and he wants to get it off his chest. And lucky for him, is in a position where he couldn't care less about burning bridges.

So, good for him.

btw - do I think the Yanks woulda won those Series' without him? Probably... evidently, that's not what they think as they kept paying him (in my opinion) ridiculous amounts to coin to manage them.

We should have known this would happen...we should stay away from all ex-Mets.

You think he needs the cash? I was thinking that maybe his cancer has come back or something and it's a bad prognosis, so he wanted to get this off his chest before it's too late. I don't disagree with the blurbs I've read about A-Rod and how Cashman and the front office ran the team after '01. But it seems totally out of character for Torre to air stuff like that.

I haven't read the whole book, so I'll reserve any more comments until I do.

Ha!

As a Mets fan, I'd guess it's his St. Louis Cardinal past that explains it (LaRussa is their mananger now...'nuf said)

Hey Chris,

No! Quite the opposite...

Since he doesn't need the cash, he can take his bitterness and spill it (unlike the rest of us afraid of burning bridges)
