It's Weird

Though I definitely liked MASH more than Good Times, when flicking around the channels, I'm more apt to watch Good Times than MASH reruns.

DY-NO-MITE!!!!
I used to watch Good Times as it related to my life more than MASH. I've never been in the vietnam war, but I have had a fat super.

hey josh homer,

i laugh WITH MASH...I laugh AT Good Times - the writing is just weird...it's as if rich white people were writing about what it was like to be black and poor.

What's Happening was in the same boat

And every white person on those shows were either evil or goofy - cracks me up

I enjoy GT so much more the second time around. I'm bored of all the miserable rich people shows and I am more Esther Rolle than SErena from Gossip Girl anyway.

I prefer "Good Times" because of the live studio audience. In many episodes, at some poignant moment when a character makes a discovery or stands up to someone, you can hear one black lady (my mom does the best impression of her) go "Right On!" just before the rest of the audience starts the applause. I always felt M*A*S*H could have used a bit more of that.

Even if it's a later episode when James is dead, Florida moved to Florida, Wilona is in charge, and JJ is supposed to be sexy?!?

you are correct - "right on's" woulda saved many a MASH.
